An Indian student has been in a hospital in the US after an accident this month, with her family members in Maharashtra seeking help to get a visa to meet her.
Neelam Shinde, 35, a resident of Maharashtra’s Satara district, was allegedly hit by a car while she was walking on the road on February 14. She is currently in the ICU. The police have arrested the car driver.
NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, speaking to NDTV, sought External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s help to get Ms Shinde’s father, Tanaji Shinde, a visa.
“Need to resolve this alarming issue,” she said.
She also took to her official X account and said that Mr Shinde has applied for an urgent visa to the US and requires assistance.
