
Kathua; 30 December:- District Cyber Cell Kathua under overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh Shobhit Saksena -IPS has demonstrated its commitment to combat cyber crime by recovering defrauded amount of ₹ 1,37,000/-.
Brief facts of the case are that on 14/11/2024, an offline complaint was lodged in Cyber Cell Kathua through NCCR portal vide Acknowledgement No. 21411240010413 in which a complainant namely Mavi Kapoor R/o Housing Colony, Kathua reported that unknown fraudsters impersonating themselves as share market brokers with whom he came in contact through internet manipulated him to invest his money with them to make profits and complainant assuming that his money is being invested started transferring them money in different fraudulent accounts. When complainant finally tried to withdraw the amount from the fake wallet fraudsters had created, he failed to do so. As soon as he got aware that he has been defrauded, he reported at Cyber Cell kathua.
During the investigation, the Cyber Cell Kathua team acted swiftly and exhibited hectic efforts and freezed the multiple fraudster accounts involved in the fraud. Today on 30/12/2024, the total defrauded amount has been recovered from 04 different fraudster accounts of different banks and credited back to the account of victim on the implementation of Court Order
while further investigation in the case is in progress.
Pertinently, from the date of establishment, Cyber Cell Kathua has successfully recovered defrauded amount of Rs 46,80,000/- so far, this achievement of District Police Kathua underscores the unit’s expertise, dedication and tireless efforts in safeguarding the common citizens against online fraud and cheating.
