
Kathua Campus, University of Jammu as part of its outreach and environmental awareness initiatives organised a plantation drive at Gaushala, Kalibari to promote environmental sustainability. The activity aimed to encourage ecological balance, foster environmental responsibility, and enhance community participation in sustainable practices. The Campus has set a target of planting 100 saplings during the week as part of this initiative.
The plantation activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from both faculty members and students reflecting their commitment to nurturing socially responsible citizens and contributing meaningfully to environmental conservation efforts.
Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu in his message emphasised the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged students to actively participate in such initiatives. He highlighted that plantation drives are essential for building a greener and more sustainable future.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, Principal, UIET in his message appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to take part in activities that promote environmental awareness. He emphasised that such drives help develop a sense of responsibility toward nature and society.
The plantation drive was organised under the guidance of Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/C Head, Computer Science Department who played a key role in planning and executing the activity and coordinating with the Forest Department for its successful conduct.
The Campus extended its sincere gratitude to Dr. Ankit Sinha, IFS, DFO Kathua for his valuable support and guidance which greatly contributed to the successful organisation of the plantation drive. Dr. Nitin Khajuria, Range Officer, Kathua was appreciated for his active involvement and cooperation in facilitating the activity. The Campus also acknowledged Sh. Anil Slathia, In-charge, Chak Sona Nupa Nursery for his assistance, technical support, and coordination during the plantation drive.
The plantation drive was led by Dr. Reemani Verma, Assistant Professor, UIET who supervised the arrangements and ensured the smooth execution of the activity. The drive was also attended by faculty members including Dr. Mahesh Koul, Dr. Nisha Choudhary, Er. Ritika Gupta, and Ms. Princee Verma along with enthusiastic participation from the students.
