
Handwara 11 October: Irfan Gani Bhat :The 6th District Kupwara Yogasana Sports Championship 2025–26 concluded successfully at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Handwara, witnessing two days of energetic performances and exceptional sporting spirit among young athletes from across the district.
Organized by the District Kupwara Yogasana Sports Association under the aegis of the J&K Yogasana Sports Association and recognized by the J&K Sports Council, the event served as a vibrant platform to promote health, discipline, and fitness through Yogasana.
The championship was held on October 10 and 11, 2025, featuring participation from over 200 athletes across Sub-Junior (U/10), Junior (U/14), and Senior (U/18+) categories. Participants displayed outstanding talent, grace, and dedication in various Yogasana postures and routines, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for the sport in Kupwara district.
The Chief Guest on the inaugural day was Mr. Sofi Vilayat, Station House Officer (SHO) Handwara, who encouraged the young participants to pursue Yogasana as a way of life for better physical and mental well-being.
The Closing Ceremony was graced by Mr. Mir Suliman, DDC Chairman, Kupwara, who praised the association’s efforts in nurturing young talent and promoting Yogasana at the grassroots level.
Mr. War Shahbaz, Organizing Secretary, District Kupwara Yogasana Sports Association,and District indore Manger Mr.Zahoor Ahmad expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, with NIS Kabaddi coach Nadhia Nabi officials, and volunteers for their support in making the event a grand success. He emphasized that such championships not only foster sportsmanship but also inspire youth to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
Officials from the association lauded the athletes’ performances and announced that top performers from the district will represent Kupwara in upcoming state- and national-level Yogasana championships.
The event concluded with medals, certificates, and mementos distributed among the winners, followed by a group photograph capturing the spirit of unity, determination, and excellence in Yogasana.
