kathua: World Hemophilia Day, observed annually on April 17th, aims to raise awareness about hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, foster community involvement, and promote the importance of proper treatment and care. This year, Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua organized a seminar to commemorate the day, bringing together healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and students to discuss advancements in hemophilia management, the importance of early diagnosis, and support networks for individuals living with this condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme for this year was “Access for all:Women & Girls bleed too,” emphasizing the critical need for equitable healthcare access for individuals with hemophilia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr.Nymhy, DNB resident from the Department of Pediatrics, welcomed the participants and presented a seminar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel Discussion<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the keynote address, a panel discussion took place featuring healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
HOD Medicine stated \u201cRaising awareness about hemophilia not only helps in better understanding of the condition but also fosters a supportive community that can address the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by it.\u201d
HOD Surgery addressed the necessity of regular check-ups and proactive management to prevent complications associated with hemophilia.
The importance of fostering a collaborative atmosphere of learning and support was emphasized by HOD Anesthesia.
Head of Gynaecology and Obstetrics focused on the challenges faced by patients in accessing treatment and the emotional and psychological impact of living with a bleeding disorder.
At GMC Kathua, the a special ward has been dedicated with the admission of 9 patients, for whom factor VIII has been made available as a part of treatment and now such patients need not go to Jammu ,saving their time as well.The event raised awareness about hemophilia, reinforced the importance of proper treatment, and encouraged the establishment of support networks for those affected. As a collective, the attendees left with renewed hope and determination to advocate for better policies and access to care for individuals with bleeding disorders.
The seminar concluded with a commitment to continue these discussions and efforts beyond April 17, emphasizing the ongoing need for education, advocacy, and a united front in the fight against hemophilia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
